About Balanced Mum

I’m a mum and I have genuinely not had a quiet Tuesday since about 2019. If you’ve got kids, you probably know what I mean — the days blur together, the to-do list never ends, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, the finances just sort of… get ignored.

For a long time I just avoided it. I’d check the bank balance when I absolutely had to, cross my fingers around bill season, and tell myself I’d sort it properly when things calmed down. They didn’t calm down. They never calm down.

So I started looking into it properly. Not the pensions-and-ISAs stuff — just the basics. Where is the money actually going? What are we spending on things we don’t even notice? Are there quicker wins I’ve been missing? Turns out, there were quite a few.

Balanced Mum is where I share what actually worked. No fluff, no condescending explanations about why you should have a rainy day fund (I know, I know), and no advice that assumes you have a free afternoon to spend on a spreadsheet. Just the practical stuff, written for people with a lot on.
