Why I’m Restarting My Investing Journey in 2026

If you’ve read my welcome post, you’ll know that 2026 is my year of starting fresh not just with my blog, but with my money goals too.

So here it is:
I’m restarting my entire investing journey from zero in 2026.
No leftover balances. No old portfolios. No “I used to have…” stories.
Just a clean slate.

It feels equal parts terrifying and exciting but it also feels right.

What Happened Before

A while back, I had money invested. I’d built it up slowly over time, adding small amounts each month whenever I could. Nothing huge, but enough that I was proud of myself.

But life happens.
Plans change.
Priorities shift.

I ended up emptying the account for reasons that made sense at the time… but it left me feeling like I’d “fallen off” my financial journey.

Once the money was gone, I stopped paying attention.
Stopped saving.
Stopped investing.
Stopped checking in.

I basically drifted away from everything I’d built.

Why Restart in 2026?

Because something clicked at the end of 2025.

I realised I want to feel in control again.
I want to rebuild better habits.
I want to create long-term security for my family.
And I want to prove to myself, and anyone reading that you can always start again.

And honestly?
I already know the first half of the year will be slow and small.
I’ll only be investing tiny amounts whatever I can manage on months that feel tight.
Sometimes that might be £5, £10, or £20.

And you know what?
That’s okay.

Small still counts.
Small still adds up.
Small is how real people build long-term habits.

This restart isn’t about big numbers.
It’s about rebuilding momentum.

How I’m Starting Again (This Time With a Plan)

1. Start with whatever I can afford even very small amounts

For the first half of 2026, I won’t be investing large sums.
It’s going to be small contributions while I get my routine back in place.
Consistency over perfection.

2. Keep the strategy simple

No overthinking.
No chasing trends.
No comparing myself to investors with thousands.

3. Make it part of my monthly routine

I’ll be checking in once a month even if it’s just a tiny update.

4. Track everything publicly

Sharing the journey helps me stay accountable and honest.

5. See this as a long-term rebuild

2026 is about restarting, not rushing.

What You Can Expect From My Monthly Investing Updates

Throughout 2026, I’ll share:

  • how much I invested (even if it’s a tiny amount)
  • what I bought
  • what changed that month
  • how it feels starting from scratch
  • what I’m learning along the way

These will be honest updates — no pressure, no perfection.

A Fresh Journey, Without Shame

Restarting anything as an adult comes with guilt.
It’s easy to think:

“I should be further ahead.”
“I shouldn’t have stopped.”
“I shouldn’t have emptied everything.”

But I’m letting that go.

This is my new beginning.
Small steps count.
And if you’re restarting something too. Whether it’s money, fitness, routines, or anything else. You’re not alone.

Let’s Do This Together

So here’s to rebuilding, slowly and honestly.
Here’s to starting again without shame.
And here’s to seeing where this 2026 investing journey takes me… one tiny month at a time. 💚
